Caoimhe Hennessy is an Irish illustrator and visual artist. Her work celebrates colour and storytelling, drawing inspiration from the imagination of childhood.
She graduated from Ballyfermot College of Further Education with a HND in Illustration in 2020 and has been working as a freelance illustrator ever since. Caoimhe illustrated The Mindful Walk by Harriet Beth Carr in 2020 and has created the annual Snowman for Carla colouring page for The Irish Independent since 2021. Her illustrated Christmas card of President Michael D. Higgins went viral in 2021, leading to national media coverage and an interview on The Ray D’Arcy Show on RTÉ Radio 1.
Caoimhe’s practice spans picture book illustration, character design, editorial work, and large-scale set design. She is one half of Stage Left Design, producing theatre sets and props for musicals, plays and pantomimes. She is responsible for the designs and paintwork, translating her illustration style into bold stage visuals.
In addition to her own artwork, Caoimhe has several years of experience teaching art to children in both educational and workshop settings. She is passionate about helping young people explore their creativity through hands-on, playful, and accessible projects.
In 2025, Caoimhe was awarded the Raising Voices Fellowship, supported by Children’s Books Ireland and Illustrators Ireland. Through this mentorship, she is developing her own picture book stories and continuing to grow toward her goal of becoming a children’s book author-illustrator.
